There was a fantastic turn out of 486 boys and 145 girls earlier this term for the Prep Schools Lions selections. Over 80 schools nominated players.
At the trials the selectors picked an ‘A’ Squad for the Under 11, Under 12 and Under 13 age groups. These are (according to the selectors!) the best players in each age group.
I am delighted to be writing with news that from Cranleigh Prep (CPS) Hattie B was selected for the Under 11 A squad and Matilda F for the Under 12 A squad this season. An outstanding achievement!
The ‘A’ Squad play matches during the spring term against Academies and other regional representative teams.
In addition a ‘Development Squad’ was selected for the coming season. This is made up of players who were considered just below the ‘A’ Squad level.
The ‘A’ Squad are combined with Development Squad players born in the same calendar year to form a team to attend an Easter Training Camp and to represent the Prep Schools Lions and England at the Gothia World Youth Cup in July.
From CPS Annabelle G, Libby SB, Monty O’ND, Thomas A and Rafferty D were selected for the Development Squad and will enjoy a fantastic trip to the Gothia World Youth Cup next July.
