Admissions Process

We love to meet new families and would be delighted for you to come and visit Cranleigh Prep. Our friendly and experienced admissions team will be on hand to offer support and guidance throughout every step of the admissions process.

Stage 1

Visit us

We love welcoming prospective students and their families to Cranleigh Prep, so we encourage you to book in to one of our open events. These include a comprehensive tour of the school, the opportunity to meet informally with the Head and to hear from current students. We are also happy to arrange individual visits during the working week.

Stage 2

Register

If you like what you see on the first visit, please register via our Admissions Portal. Parents should register their child via the online portal and pay the £200 fee. We recommend that families register as early as possible, ideally in Year 1.

Stage 3

Taster Day

Registered applicants will be invited to one of our Cranleigh Prep Explorers taster events in the Summer term of Year 1 or Michaelmas (Autumn) term of Year 2. Explorers events allow children to meet Prep school staff and familiarise themselves with our campus. Explorers activities have included bushcraft, indoor climbing, astronaut training and archery. Parents are invited to join for drinks and meet the Head and staff informally. Advance booking is essential.

Stage 4

Visit Day

After registering your child, he or she will be invited to a Visit Day. This will include them filling out an ‘All About Me’ questionnaire and a short informal interview. Children are invited to bring in something to discuss e.g. an object or a recent piece of work. We ask for a report from your child’s current school in advance.

Stage 5

Offer

We will make offers shortly after your child’s Visit Day. We make offers to those we feel will thrive academically and make a positive contribution to the wider Cranleigh Prep community.

Stage 6

Getting to Know You

After you have accepted a place, you will be invited to various events where the focus is on getting to know your child and introducing you all to the wider community at Cranleigh. We hold a New Pupils’ Day in June and our admissions team will keep you informed about other opportunities to come and visit us.
