This term, Form 5 have been excitedly preparing for the ‘Race For The Line’ Competition. This national contest has seen the children focusing on the development of their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) core skills.

They have been working in small teams to research, design and construct a rocket-powered car. Inspiration for this project has come from the Bloodhound Supersonic Car which is intended to break the land speed record later this year!

The highlight of the project was the race day itself where members of the army arrived at CPS to prepare and test fire each of the rocket engines.

The team with the fastest car will shortly be entered through to the next stage where it will race against local schools in a regional round. The top 40 teams from across the country, which has seen 18,000 competitors take part, will then be invited to the national finals at RAF Wittering in June.
