The exchange programme with children from Peponi House School in Nairobi continued this week with a visit to London. The 11 pupils from Kenya and the children of the 14 Cranleigh Prep School host families made their way up to central London via train before boarding the underground.

Their destination: the tourist attraction of Madame Tussauds. As we meandered our way through the famous London landmark, we discovered (waxwork) stars of the silver screen, fictional characters, sports celebrities, major figures from history, musical icons and world leaders.

There were also special exhibitions on characters from the Marvel Universe and from the Star Wars films.

After the obligatory visit to the gift shop, we made our way back to Waterloo. We ate lunch in the shadow of the London Eye before piling into two of the space age pods with a guide. The early morning fog had cleared giving us stunning views of Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Shard to name but a few. It was a great experience for all the pupils (and staff!).

The exchange programme concludes this week with a farewell dinner for our Kenyan guests on Wednesday evening.
