Cricket is the major summer sport played by boys and girls alike, and it benefits from the expertise of the Director of Cricket at Cranleigh School, Mr Stuart Welch. There are teams at all levels allowing every child to represent the school, and the formats are carefully chosen to suit the age and ability of the children in that team.
Facilities are outstanding with a Top Pitch that is the envy of any visiting school, plus the opportunity to use all the pitches across both schools on a match day. The ground staff prepare fine grass wickets and there are also some artificial wickets used on a regular basis.
The Trevor Abbott Sports Centre at Cranleigh School and the cricket ’bubble’ are used for practice during the Lent term. Tours to Holland and within the UK have taken place in the past.
Former pupils of the school have gone on to play the game at the highest level: Robin Martin-Jenkins played for Sussex CCC for many years whilst Stuart Meaker is currently in the Surrey team and has represented England as well.
Each year we have a variety of boys and girls representing their county for cricket.
