Form 3 have been learning about all about chocolate in their Humanities lessons this term.  They’ve explored where in the world the cocoa bean is grown, learnt about Ghana, cocoa production and Fairtrade.

Their eagerly anticipated Chocolate Talk took place on Thursday when they welcomed local Fairtrade chocolatier, Joanna Marshall, of Kokoh, who told them all about her company and products.

Joanna explained how she is passionate that the chocolate she produces is fairly traded and is working on ways to ensure that farmers are paid as directly as possible for the work they do.

Pupils were very excited about sampling, with Joanna teaching them how to smell, savour and taste different chocolate.  Some struggled to leave the samples to melt on their palettes without chewing!

We were all delighted to receive an Easter bunny gift to take away.
