Lower School pupils joined together last night for an evening of fun, games and magic to celebrate the beloved series of books by J. K. Rowling.  Children arrived in their best wizarding dress for refreshments, games, activities and literature-based fun throughout the night.

The evening started with the Sorting Hat, to place pupils into the Hogwart’s Houses.  They then split into groups to make putrid potions, wizardry word searches, wacky wands and oversensitive owls.  They also feasted on creamy cupcakes and sticky squash.

It was great to take part in this national event, where children throughout the country (and indeed the world) celebrate this wonderful series with a Harry Potter Book Night.

It is an occasion for us to pass the magic of Harry Potter to young readers who haven’t yet discovered these unforgettable books.  Judging by the happy faces leaving school last night, it looks as though Harry Potter magic will continue to enthral this next generation of readers.
