Many congratulations to Emily W, Form 2, who has been awarded the Runner Up prize in the Years 3 & 4 category of The Mighty Nose Awards 2016, for her poem, ‘In My Dreams’. It is the first year that Cranleigh Prep has entered this annual competition, putting forward entries from some keen poets in Form 2. Marty is a fictional character, who is the mascot for The Mighty Nose Awards, which invites pupils to submit smell-inspired creative writing for the chance to win fantastic prizes for themselves and for their schools.

Marty the Mighty Nose is supported by a team of people including teachers, and is developed by the Fragrance Foundation UK.   It is a not-for-profit educational organisation and all its members are in the fragrance industry, supporting Marty as a philanthropic initiative. The judges were very impressed with Emily’s poem, ‘In My Dreams’, particularly praising ‘the lively depiction of smell, the approach taken to the subject and the quality of the writing’.

Emily has been invited to come and receive her prize of a £25 book token & certificate at the Mighty Nose Awards ceremony on the morning of Wednesday 16th March at BAFTA, Piccadilly, London. The ceremony will form a part of The Jasmine Awards, which is an annual celebration of excellence in fragrance journalism, organised by The Fragrance Foundation.
