While events took place across the country on Sunday to reflect the years since the end of the First World War, we gathered this morning in our school Chapel to remember those who had paid the highest price in the past and to pray for peace in the future.
The annual Remembrance Service is always a poignant event in our calendar and today the school congregation wholeheartedly sang the hymns ‘Abide With Me’ and ‘I Vow To Thee, My Country’ as well as a rousing National Anthem to end the service.
The Chapel Choir performed a beautiful rendition of the anthem ‘Benedictus’ by Brian Lewis, and Mr Halstead and Form 6 pupil Daniel B played the Last Post and Reveille, respectively. They performed from outside the Chapel, which provided a haunting and reflective atmosphere.
We are so very proud of our young musicians for making this such a memorable service.
“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them”.
