The boys in the U11 A side travelled to Eastbourne College to participate in the IAPS Under 11 Hockey Tournament.

We arrived early in the morning and played in radiant sunshine which was a real treat after so many days of rain, cloud and cold. The boys mirrored the positive weather conditions by playing some outstanding hockey. They initially played 6 pool games winning 5 and drawing one. This meant that they topped their pool going into the quarter finals. They then went on to beat Windlesham in the quarter final before beating Ardingly in the semi-final. In the final they played against Brambletye and convincingly beat them 4-1.

The boys played very attractive hockey with the whole team working together and moving the ball around beautifully to create many scoring opportunities. During the day they were able to score 28 goals with only 4 goals being scored against them. This is an exceptional achievement.

Although the boys excelled on the field, what we were most impressed with was the manner in which they played the game. They took to heart the saying “Humble in victory and gracious in defeat”. There were several parents and staff from other schools who complemented our boys on their conduct on and off the field.

We are all very proud of this fine achievement. They will now represent the school at the IAPS U11 Nationals on Monday 11 March and we wish them all the best for this competition.
