We were delighted to welcome our new Patron of Reading for 2022-2023, Joshua Seigal to our school on Thursday 10th November, for the first of three visits.

Joshua is a performance poet who has written many books, including I bet I can make you laugh which won the Laugh Out Loud Award 2020. The pupils were transfixed by Joshua’s performances reading his poems, some of which included audience participation with both voice and actions. Joshua led workshops to give some ideas of how to write their own poetry and the pupils were very keen at the end of the session to stand and read out the poems they had written in a very short space of time.

Joshua left time at the end of each session for a Q & A which gave us an insight to his ‘likes and dislikes’. He will return again in the Lent Term when he will be selling and signing his books.
