Prep school pupils and staff gathered together this morning to remember those who lost their lives in wartime.
The Chaplain, Rev. Harrison, paid tribute to the names of former pupils listed on our memorial plaque and he shared a thought provoking message encouraging everyone to work towards peace in the world. The bible passage was read by the new Head Girl and Head Boy, Evie L and William H, and Mr Brooks read the wartime poem ‘In Flanders Fields’. Trumpeter William S played the Last Post and the Reveille and the Chapel Choir sang Willcocks’ anthem ‘Lord, make me an instrument’ from ‘Lux Perpetua’, under the direction of Mrs Williams.
As everyone quietly left the chapel, we heard our organist, Dr Ward, play a poignant rendition of Elgar’s ‘Nimrod’ from the ‘Enigma Variations’.
