Cranleigh village resounded with wonderful music making at the recent Cranleigh Choral Society summer concert. Members of our Chamber Choir and Form 3 Choir were delighted to be invited to collaborate with the adults.

The concert opened with Bob Chilcott’s ‘Little Jazz Mass’ and featured snappy rhythms and sumptuous harmonies, accompanied by talented pianist, Margaret Roberts. Each of the CPS choirs performed on their own in front of the warm and receptive audience, which was a great experience for them. Then the younger children performed ‘Captain Noah and his floating Zoo’ with the Choral Society,  greatly enjoying the humour of Michael Flanders’ libretto and Joseph Horowitz’s score. Conductor, Andrew Thomas, was delighted with the collaboration and impressed by the confidence of the young soloists.

Working across different generations is such a valuable experience for musicians and we hope to be able to work in partnerships more often now that school life is returning to normal.
