On Sat 7th May, along with our Open Morning and Jubilee celebrations, the U13A girls played a cricket match against Hall Grove on Top Pitch.

Cranleigh Prep batted first and achieved a very respectable 84 runs, with Issy W scoring 32 and Molly A and Bethan L playing some lovely attacking shots. During the tea interval, there was a short, sharp spell of rain which made the pitch a little more slippery for the Hall Grove innings. However, Cranleigh bowled well, containing the visitors and taking regular wickets, including three in one over from Cecilia B. Annabel L donned the wicket keeping gloves for the first time and showed a natural talent behind the stumps. With one over to go Hall Grove required 12 runs for the win but the bowling and fielding remained strong and they fell short of the Cranleigh total by six runs.

It was lovely for the girls to feel so well supported with pupils and parents appearing on the boundary as the morning’s activities came to an end and the game was exciting, with a close finish.

We are very much looking forward to the return match with Hall Grove later this term.
