Form 6F are completing a Discovery Crest Award, this is where pupils work in groups to solve a STEM challenge, or challenges, with minimal adult intervention. Then students present their work.
The pupils are designing, developing and testing a tomato carrier. Their remit is to make a prototype that will help Nepalise communities transport vegetables down mountains.
They have learnt about Sustainable Development Goals and the reasons why we need teams solving problems like this. They will be communicating their idea in a 3-minute presentation.
Discovery Awards offer an introduction to real project work and give students the freedom to run their own investigations. They can be completed in one day, with students working together in self-managed groups.
