Today Cranleigh Prep pupils, dressed in Christmas jumpers, are enjoying Maths Puzzle Day. The general theme for the morning is ‘Maths Games’ showing the children that they can develop their maths skills (especially their mental arithmetic skills) through a vast array of fun games.
They are learning maths is so much more than textbooks, revision and exams! For many of the tasks the children will be required to work in groups, read a set of instructions (or watch a video) and work out how to play and then stick at the game for a period of time – not give up at the first hurdle when it seems a bit confusing.
The school also has a visiting Problem-Solving Company that are running problem solving activities.
