Boarders Christmas Dinner 2020

‘How much did Santa pay for his sleigh? Nothing it was on the house!!’ ‘Which of Santa’s reindeer do dinosaurs like least?…

‘How much did Santa pay for his sleigh? Nothing it was on the house!!’

‘Which of Santa’s reindeer do dinosaurs like least? Comet!!’

These (and worse) were the kind of jokes the Boarders had to put up with during their Christmas Supper. Despite Mr Batchelor’s constant interruptions with his attempts at humour the boarders still managed to happily tuck into a variety of goodies including homemade sausage rolls; chicken dippers with sweet chilli sauce; vegetable spring rolls with hoisin sauce; pigs in blankets; chorizo and halloumi skewers; chocolate roulade and an amazing fruit platter.

Between courses, Christmas quizzes and games of ‘Heads and Tails’ were played, with lucky winners taking home prizes that included musical Christmas ties and Santa socks!

Despite all the fun, boarders really came into their own and showed true Christmas spirit at the end of the meal when they expressed their thanks and gratitude for all of the wonderful spreads the kitchen staff have produced for them this term. Emily and Will gave lovely speeches and all gave a rousing three cheers.

Its was an evening full of festive merriment.

By the way…what did one snowman say to the other? Can you smell carrots!
