In the first week of the Christmas holidays, a team of 16 CPS skiers, accompanied by Khan Brewer and Eleanor Jolly, travelled to Les Deux Alpes to take part in the Independent Schools Ski Championships.

This is the first time CPS have entered the event and, alongside a team of 32 pupils from Cranleigh School, they competed in Giant Slalom, Slalom and Team Duel Slalom against 20 other schools.

The team faced some tricky weather conditions over the course of the week, with high winds closing lifts and disrupting the training and racing schedule.

Nevertheless, the pupils had a brilliant week and enjoyed both the skiing and evening activities and for many of the pupils, this was their first experience of ski racing.

There were some outstanding individual performances. Jessica F (Form 3) took home two gold medals in the U10 Slalom and Giant Slalom events and finished 4th overall in the Junior competition out of 48 competitors.

Edward F (Form 5) finished 4th out of 83 competitors in the U14 Boys Giant Slalom, where he was competing as an U14 against U18s. Edward was also part of the winning Duel Slalom team, which consisted of six team members, five of which were from CS.

The Junior team, made up of Lucinda L, Amelie W and Lucy W (Form 4) and Jessica F ended the championships as runners up in the Junior Slalom, Junior Giant Slalom and Overall Junior Team.
