This spectacular musical production saw the well-known Addams family attempt to be ‘normal’ for just one night.  The play reminded us how strange the characters of Morticia (played by the amazing Samantha Womack), Gomez and Uncle Fester really are and how a lie can unravel with hilarious consequences.

The plot centred around Wednesday Addams, the ultimate Princess of Darkness, who has now grown up and has a shocking secret that only her father, Gomez, knows. She’s fallen in love with a sweet young man from a respectable family! To keep things ‘normal,’ Gomez manages to keep his daughter’s secret until the two families meet for a fateful dinner.  Suffice to say, things do not go to plan.

This play was a story of love, family and friendship.  The script was very funny, the acting excellent (Lurch being a particular favourite), the live orchestra enchanting and the singing extremely powerful.  The pupils from the Prep School, who were very well behaved throughout, enjoyed every minute of the show, with one reporting “I think it’s the best play we’ve seen in Theatre Club yet.”

Many thanks to Mrs Schutte and Mrs Everett for organising this trip – it was spookily spectacular.
