Last Tuesday, on the hottest day of the year, Form 3 were marched into the grounds of Cedar Court by members of the Surrey Regiment and flag bearers.

The residents were remembering the Great War in which many of their relatives had fought and we were honoured to have been invited back to join them in the afternoon’s events.

The boys and girls sang war time favourites alongside the ladies and gentlemen; songs including ‘ It’s a Long way to Tipperary’, ‘Mademoiselle from Armentieres’ and ‘Pack up your Troubles’.

After receiving their shilling they were marched back to the waiting coaches, whilst still singing…. this time ‘Goodbyee, Goodbyee, Wipe a tear, baby dear, from your eyee’.
