Francesca S, currently in Form 6, enjoyed a great start to the national Under 13 Girls County Cricket Championship with a fine innings for Sussex against Surrey at the weekend.
Chasing a target of 138, Francesca (who is vice captain) opened the innings and ‘carried her bat’ for 71 not out at a run a ball including 11 boundaries, with Sussex knocking off the final runs with 5 overs to spare. The innings takes her to the top of the national batting averages with plenty of challenging competition to come.
Georgie L, currently in Form 5, played for the opposing Surrey U13 side (despite only being an U12) and scored 19.
