On Tuesday afternoon, Lower school pupils, staff & parents were treated to a wonderful concert given by a talented duo from within our very own school community, as part of the Lower School Concert Series.

Mr Richard Saxel (Head of Performance at CS) & Mrs Beddison, our enthusiastic Head of Prep School Music, told the sensitive tale of Babar the Elephant in words and music.

Mr Saxel’s agile fingers flew over the keys, filling our imaginations with pictures of Babar, dressed in a smart city suit, driving his motor car through the streets with his cousins Celeste & Arthur stampeding alongside. Soft, sad melodies evoked empathy for Babar as we learned of the death of his mother; in contrast, regal chords depicted his coronation.

The audience was spellbound for the duration of the performance & erupted in loud applause as the final note was played. How inspiring to hear a professional performance of such a high standard given by those that teach & guide our own pupils at CS & CPS on their own musical journey.
