Staff and pupils at CPS were treated to a very engaging talk from Simon Kenworthy, Headmaster of Cranleigh Abu Dhabi Prep School, during School Assembly before half-term.  He inspired us all with wonderful photos of landmarks on Saadiyat Island, including the Guggenheim and The Louvre.  We also saw photos and videos of the School’s grounds and pupils in action.  He discussed a wide range of subjects, from the traditional dress and food on the island to the School’s pupil numbers and the performances of the individual Houses, which share the same colours as ours: red, green, blue and yellow.

There was a particularly amusing moment when, in order to demonstrate the different attire worn in Abu Dhabi, our Head girl and boy, Millie and Olly, were sent off to dress up in traditional costume.  They returned draped in long robes, Millie in an ‘abaya’ and Olly in a ‘kandura’, accompanied with a ‘gutrah’ which is the traditional UAE headscarf.   After so much entertainment, it is no surprise that when Mr Kenworthy asked “Who would like to come back to Abu Dhabi with me?”, almost everyone in the room put their hand up!
