Deputy Head Pastoral
E-mail: Mrs E. F. Lewis BA (Hons) / Education
Mrs Emma Lewis joined Cranleigh Prep School in September 2017 as Deputy Head Pastoral, she is also the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.
She finds the two roles are extremely cohesive as the Learning for Life curriculum allows her to develop a curriculum that promotes the pastoral well-being of all pupils, alongside the School’s core values and ethos. She is extremely excited about the prominence that PSHE is now receiving within the world of education.
Cranleigh Prep is a vibrant, nurturing and busy school that allows pupils to flourish in a considerate, ambitious and supportive environment. High quality pastoral care, which goes hand-in-hand with the academic growth of pupils, underpins everything we do.
Our aim as a school is to provide all children with a safe and positive environment that promotes happiness, success and, more importantly, allows pupils to be who they are.
The Form Tutors oversee the wellbeing of the pupils in their Forms and are the first port of call for parents. We work closely with parents and families when worries arise, using open and honest communication.
Within the school, there is a Pastoral Leadership Team which works under the guidance of the Deputy Head Pastoral. This team consists of Heads of Lower, Middle and Upper School, Head of Years, Matrons, Chaplain and the Safeguarding Team; they meet weekly to discuss the welfare of pupils.
Each and every pupil is known at the Prep School and recognised as an individual whilst being a member of our bigger team. Through our whole school approach, every child feels that they have a safety network they can trust if they need to share any worries or concerns.
In the words of the pupils themselves, ‘Cranleigh Prep allows you to be yourself no matter who you are, as there is support for all.’
