Religion is a major source of inspiration, meaning, and controversy in human culture, informing history, politics, economics, art, and literature. One cannot hope to understand world history and literature, or current events such as Middle East politics, without knowledge of religion. Debates over science and religion, as well as religion and law, are often front-page news.
Throughout history, inquiry into religions has inspired and troubled artists, musicians, filmmakers, and writers. Religious ritual and belief are also among the most powerful forces; uniting past and present, shaping memory and identity from generation to generation, and across millennia.
At Cranleigh Prep School, we seek to teach pupils about the six main religions of the world in a kinaesthetic way. As a Christian school, we unlock the Bible, making connections across the Humanities subjects. In the Lower and Middle Schools, we also focus on Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism, and Islam.
We hope the children enjoy this fun, accessible, thought-provoking and relevant course.
