French

Language lessons focus on a positive approach to really understanding a different language, and to learning more about different cultures. Our aim is that children leave with a real desire to find out more about France, irrespective of their ability in the language.

In the first two years the children will learn how to introduce themselves, make and buy bread, describe appearance with a fashion show and ask for ice-cream. They will also find out about a typical French town, other French-speaking countries, art and fashion, music and film, food and drink, World War II in France and much more.

As pupils progress, songs and games are still used, and we hope to maintain their enthusiasm while they encounter the more formal grammar-based approach to French. The aim is for each child to perform to their potential, both in class and in the exams.
