E-mail: Mrs K D Vowles
Miss Kimberley Vowles studied dance from a young age and graduated from Performers College in 2006 with a Diploma in Dance Theatre, having had three years’ professional dance training as a scholarship student. She then began her professional career touring both in the UK and abroad. Since graduating she has worked constantly in the entertainment industry as a Dancer, Choreographer and Teacher.
Kimberley qualified with the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) in Modern and Tap Dance in 2006. Kimberley has entered many students for ISTD and RAD examinations always achieving excellent results. Kimberley's love for dance and theatre shines through when teaching so each class is enjoyable, inspiring and engaging for the children.
Dance is offered as part of the curriculum for boys and girls in Forms 1-3, helping develop coordination, spatial awareness, fluidity of movement, musicality, flexibility, posture and strength.
During the term the children work on numerous set exercises focusing on building dance technique and expanding their knowledge of dance vocabulary. They also enjoy learning group dance routines and will build on their own choreographic skills.
The children can look forward to in-house performances showcasing their classwork in-front of an audience. We encourage dance performances to help build confidence, performance skills and stage experience.
The children also have the opportunity to participate in workshops on specific dance styles lead by guest teachers.
Extra-curricular dance is also available where the children can attend lessons in ISTD Modern, ISTD Tap, ISTD Ballet, RAD Ballet and Street Dance. The children are able to take examinations in Modern, Tap and Ballet.
