Audre Lorde, an American writer, once said, “Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before.”

It was with this in mind that all Form 1-5 pupils enthusiastically set to writing poetry about their own dreams and visions.  Using the poem The Magic Box, by Kit Wright, as the foundation for their writing, the children all wrote poetry to express what is important in their lives, from the everyday cuddle with a teddy bear to their visionary hopes for a better future.

All of their words are bridges towards a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them.  Some of their words were captured in a whole school video, the link to which is below.

We hope you enjoy it.
