The Lower School Concert Series takes place each term, and last week the children welcomed our visiting jazz piano teacher Pete Billington and his band. The concert, entitled ‘The Magic of Disney’ showcased famous Disney songs arranged in a jazz style and included extended improvisations and solos on the piano, double bass and drums.
The programme included music from ‘Dumbo’, ‘Coco’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ before finishing with a wonderful New Orleans jazz arrangement of ‘The Bare Necessities’.
Every piece was gleefully received by our young audience who were tapping their toes and bopping away to the music.
