Last week, award winning actor Edward Bennett gave up his valuable time to share his huge wealth of experience from stage and screen with our Form 6 pupils.
He certainly wooed the masses and went “Once More Unto the Breach” with 74 Form 6 pupils with the infamous King Henry Vth monologue.“ and created a battlefield never before witnessed in our refurbished Wyatt Hall. Quite a marvel to witness.
He spent more time with classes after the break where we worked on “Lord of the Flies with Form 5 and Romeo and Juliet with Form 6. Mr Waller, Head of Drama has been working on two films with Form 6 in extra curricular time, one being “Animal Farm” and one being “War Horse”.
Edward Bennett was directed by Stephen Spielberg in the very same movie in 2011, and was able to pass on his knowledge and expertise to our Form 6 actors. The auction scene was set at our very own stables using school horse Rambo!.
Edward needed no introduction, and is hugely modest through and through. At the end of the workshop a Q & A session highlighted his incredibly varied career to date. Whether treading the boards in Stratford and being one of the most prolific Shakespearian actors, rubbing shoulders with all the greatest names in the industry on stage and screen, he blew our minds with enthusiasm and cementing the importance of Shakespeare.
