CPS hat-trick of qualifiers in 1st ranking places at the IAPS Finals.
CPS is celebrating a most prominent moment in their swimming history as the IAPS 2022 swim team have exceeded a record number of 1st place qualifiers with an additional three students qualifying into the top 20 places in the finals.
Congratulation to all the pupils who are through to the finals at London Aquatic Centre as they have worked consistently towards their goal and seen off many famous top swimming schools in the UK.
Finally, a huge thank you to all the IAPS team who represented the school yet just missed out on a semi-final position.
IAPS 2022 Statistics
- CPS swam in 41 preliminary IAPS events.
- CPS team have qualified this year in six final events (all top 20 ranking positions nationally).
- Three students secured 1st place :-
- Manon G-J – 1st place – U12 50m Individual Breaststroke.
- Toby L-D – 1st place – U13 50m Individual Backstroke.
- Maddie M – 1st place – U10 25m Individual Freestyle
- Harriet K came 12th out of 176 competitors in U11 Individual 50m Freestyle.
- Isla-Rose A came 16th out of 66 competitors – U13 individual 50m Freestyle.
- Girls U12 Medley Relay Team came 17thout of 49 competitors – Darcey D, Chloe G, Manon G-J, Charlotte H.
- 14 children were placed within the top 50 IAPS rankings in the UK.
- Many of the events had over 158 competitors per category ie (Maddie M – U10 25m individual Freestyle event)
- CPS only just missed out on qualifying in 3 other events by very small margins ie. by 1 or 2 ranking positions.
Head of Swimming Julie Doubtfire said “I am delighted for those children who have qualified, this illustrates clearly that the hard yards of training certainly pay off and well done to all who have improved their personal best times”.
