In Geography this second half of term, Form 5 have been learning about Plate Tectonics. They were set a task to research a recent devastating earthquake and present their findings in their own creative way. The results have been excellent and I was treated to a variety of final projects; these can be found below:

Max B spent time exploring the Japanese culture and specifically the myth of the Namazu and presented his final piece in a gouache painting based on the Hokusai wave.

Isabella K used her literacy skills and created a short story where she was the main character experiencing the 2011 Japanese Tsunami.

Florence D R and Maddie C created an exhibition style project including a model and envelope full of facts.

Rosie S and Alexandra O are inspired by art and produced and amazing realistic hand drawing of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami trying to depict the devasting aftermath of this natural disaster.

Sam W produced and mega fact file which included: Real life account of someone who survived the earthquake, facts, nuclear disaster section, pictures/drawings and explored the damage caused.

Hafiz A wrote a poem about the 2010 Haiti earthquake and used the first letters of each line to spell out ‘It is an Earthquake’.

Tallulah B produced a chilling iMovie trailer sharing facts and photos about the 2005 Kashmir earthquake. Click here to see her trailer.

Matilda F and Alex K used their digital skills and extensive collection of Lego to make a iMovie about a tsunami. Click here to see the full movie.
