Next week CPS Headmaster, Mr Neil Brooks is going to ‘Race the Thames’. This is an indoor rowing event where participants have to row the length of the Thames over seven days. Neil is in a team of eight and it works out at 6.2km each day. The challenge starts on Monday 24th January.

‘Race the Thames’ is the annual fundraising event run by London Youth Rowing (LYR). The money raised will be used to help support LYR’s work in London and Leeds. LYR’s programmes allow young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to take part in rowing, giving them the benefit of participating in the sport and allowing them to fulfil their potential.

We will also be supporting the School of Hard Knocks Charity, with 50% of the total funds raised going to their work. Working in London, Cardiff, Glasgow and Edinburgh, the charity currently employs a core team of 18 people; has two outstanding patrons in Invictus Games gold-medallist and world record holder Andy Grant and England stalwart Andy Gomarsall MBE; and helps over 750 adults and children each year.

You can donate to Neil’s JustGiving page by clicking here:

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they will send your money directly to London Youth Rowing, so it’s the most efficient way to give – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
