Ollie and Isla Rose A. both competed at the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships 2021.

Both beat thousands of hopefuls to qualify earlier this year and won places to compete in the finals this weekend.

Isla Rose finished within the top 10 U11 girls, for the second year running, and Ollie came 25th out of 98 U13 boys. Huge congratulations to them both.

Restrictions owing to the Covid-19 pandemic meant the qualifying process was very different this year. Competitors had to submit qualification times via school or a recognised club in both a 50m swim and 800m run.

Once all the 2000 preliminary submission times were entered (U9s – U19s) Isla’s times placed her 29th in the U11 Girls group (a year younger than her academic year) in the ranking list of those who successfully qualified through to the finals. She finished Isla Rose sixth nationally out of 107 in her class.

The finals, held at the inspirational Pentathlon GB National Training Centre at University of Bath, hosted over 1400 competitors.

Congratulations Isla Rose on this fantastic achievement.
