The whole school celebrated the end of term in wonderful style at the House Singing Competition. One of the few occasions where everyone in the school community is able to take part, this is a highlight of the term for many pupils, teachers and parents.
This year the theme was based on the school values of positive qualities such as courtesy, tolerance, respect and kindness.
We began with the Middle School Choir leading everyone in a warm up song called ‘Believe in You’ along with the band of piano, bass guitar and drums. Each House in turn sang the unison song ‘Believe’ by Lin Marsh and their own choice song, performing with suitable harmonies, actions or props.
Everyone sang as well as they could. This year the adjudicator, David Hitchen, selected Hearts as the best performers of the unison song and Clubs as the best own choice performance, singing ‘Do you hear the people sing?’ from Les Miserables. We also really enjoyed hearing Diamonds singing ‘Lean on Me’, Spades singing ‘True Colours’ and Hearts singing ‘Proud’.
Very happy children headed home for the holidays with uplifting music still ringing in their ears!
