In combined Food Technology and Design lessons, Form 6 have been learning how to create a Pop-Up Italian restaurant. They were divided into teams and the competition was set.

The brief was to compose and carry out a market research questionnaire for the Upper School students at CPS, invent a restaurant name, produce a logo, and create a menu. The Pop-Up Italian mobile restaurant was to be set up for 12 hours and serve 100 portions.

After organising their operations, design, finance and managing roles, Form 6 pupils received a Photoshop course, plus some advice on ingredient and staffing costs. Once their ideas came to fruition, the teams presented them to Mr Perry, Mrs Sharpe and the rest of the class.

Finally, Form 6 made pizzas designs with their favourite toppings, which were then cooked in Mr Tristan Sharpe’s (from Caper & Berry) mobile pizza oven, housed in the back of a Land Rover, behind the Chapel.

Linen napkin folding was also part of the morning’s activities.  The Form 6 pupils’ work was displayed and a winner will be announced, with all factors considered, at the end of term in Final Assembly.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the project and learnt some invaluable teamwork skills.
