The Lower School Choir were in fine voice on Saturday evening, performing as guests of the Cranleigh Choral Society. Andrew Carter’s piece ‘Benedicite’ is written for an adult choir and a children’s choir, with each group alternating during the main section of the piece and then singing together in the final movement.
It was wonderful experience for our young singers to perform to such a large audience and experience a full scale professional concert.
Many of them also stayed to hear Karl Jenkin’s famous piece ‘The Armed Man’ in the second half, which featured Mrs Unwin as soprano soloist and Mrs Beddison as conductor.
They especially loved the loud trumpets, crashing percussion, serene cello and nimble piccolo playing.
