The annual cricket match between the Dads and Common Room took place on the last night of term on the Under 11 cricket pitch with the Common Room triumphing.

“Catches win matches” is a cliché often uttered by the cricket coaches here but clearly had fallen on the deaf ears of parents who allowed numerous chances offered by their sons’ and daughters’ teachers to go begging.

There were some paternal highlights, however, not least Rob Garlick smashing a wonderful straight six and Olly Arengo’s cultured all-round performance – he actually looked like a proper cricketer unlike the other 20 or so who took part.
