Raphaella, Form 6, has been selected to play hockey ‘a year up’ for an U15 south-east regional age group squad. She was nominated this time last year, by both the School and Guildford Hockey Club, for the Surrey training camps. From there she was selected to play in the Surrey U13 team which had a series of matches played in the early part of this year.
Whilst playing for the U13 Surrey Panthers, coaches spotted Raphaella’s superb goalkeeper skills and nominated her to go forward to JRPC (Junior Regional Performance Centre); a system put in place by England Hockey as a development pathway giving talented players the opportunity to reach their full potential. She will be training throughout the summer holidays before finding out if she is selected for the next stage. Alison Jolly, Director of Sport, said “This is a fantastic achievement, particularly to be playing for the U15’s, when she will be an U14 in the coming school year.”
