At the end of a busy week at school, 20 intrepid Form 1 and 2 explorers took to Top Pitch to have a Famous Five inspired adventure. The children listened to stories, explored Kirrin Island, shared experiences, carved wood, drank hot-chocolate, sat around a fire and enjoyed, for many, their first experience of ‘smores’.

It was a lovely evening, celebrating childhood, daring literary adventures and, of course, food. In the end, we all agreed with Enid Blyton’s words: “I don’t know why, but the meals we have on picnics always taste so much nicer than the ones we have indoors.” (Five Go Off in a Caravan)
