During the Easter holidays, Bradley B (Form 5) went to Hong Kong and Vietnam. During his stay in Da Nang, Vietnam, Bradley opted to go into a school half an hour away from his hotel to spend the afternoon teaching a class of 11 and 12 year olds. The school is sponsored by the hotel and caters for the educational needs of the local impoverished children.
This is what Bradley had to say about his experience: ‘The children at the school had no textbooks or exercise books. They wrote on small pads that they brought from home. They had to share desks and chairs. I was overwhelmed by their enthusiasm and welcoming nature and even more surprised at how well they spoke English. It was evident they cherished their education and the whole experience made me so appreciative of what I have.’
