Music and cultural trip to Cranleigh Abu Dhabi

30 pupils and 5 staff from both the Prep and Senior Schools recently returned from Cranleigh Abu Dhabi. It was a remarkable trip, which was the first cultural exchange involving musicians from all three schools. We collaborated in three public concert events; a recital featuring Richard Saxel (Head of Performance) and Hanna Wu (an extraordinarily talented 14 year old pianist), a large scale Ensemble Concert involving choirs, instrumental groups and bands, and a rousing concert performance of the stage musical ‘Oliver!’ which involved around 150 children from both schools. Staff and children attended academic lessons, enjoyed sight-seeing trips and got to make new friends. We were extremely well looked after by our hosts and gained a real respect of the culture and hospitality of those people we met. It was a huge success and a wonderful opportunity to enrich our awareness and understanding of life in another country and a different school.
