CPS swim squad joined forces with Cranleigh Senior School to compete in the Primary and Senior events at the Annual Guildford & District County meet of schools last weekend.  CPS entered 26 children to swim in the U10’s – U12’s Primary events against 7 other Surrey Schools.

Boxgrove School won the Overall Primary Mixed Girls and Boys Shield this year, however Cranleigh Prep and Holy Trinity came joint 2nd.

Overall Senior Girls (U13’s – Over 15ys) Shield went to Guildford High School. George Abbots came 2nd and Cranleigh took 3rd.

Overall Seniors Boys (U13’s – Over 15 years) Cranleigh School came 2nd to George Abbotts by one point out stripping both main swimming rivals RGS and Charterhouse.

The U10 girls started the competition, giving the team a good idea of what lies ahead at IAPS later this year. The results of their individuals event; Sasha P. flew into 2nd, Isla secured  4th in backstroke beating main IAPS rival from St Catherine’s, Tabitha and Sophie both held 5th.  However nerves got the better of them in the medley but they turned this around with 3rd place in freestyle relay coming 3rd.

James M, Monty N, Oscar C, Jamie T. and Teddy S. all swam up a year to compete in the U10’s events due to their faster trial times. Stunning performances were shown by the children who made personal best times and were placed in top 4 positions on their individual events; Monty took 4th in  Backstroke, Teddy secured 2nd place,  and Oscar came 3rd in freestyle.  The team were placed a brilliant 3rd in both relays.

U11 boys showed their strength, again all coming in the top 5 places. Jake S smashed his personal best time, Sam – fly 3rd, Josh – freestyle 4th. Relays came 4th in freestyle. Max Cunningham swam up in to Individual Medley for U13’s and came 4th and Charlie Patient swam up in the U13 in 50m individual backstroke where he kept up with the pack.

U11 girls – we lost a swimmer to illness last minute, however, thankfully reliable Sasha P stepped in to complete an U11 relay team  as well as her own individual and U10 relays. Well done to Jade for her 3rd in individual freestyle. The team came 2nd in their freestyle relay.

Again, as the CPS team was short on U13 swimmers, our U12’s took up the challenge to complete a full U13 team.  Despite this, they still came 2nd in the U13 freestyle relay.

Individual – Max Delaney was a complete star – fly – 3rd against boys treble his size.  James – freestyle 50m – 2nd. Max Martin – breaststroke 3rd.

U13 girls – individuals Alice came 3rd.  Jess M – freestyle 50m – 2nd, Annabelle – 50m back – 5th, Imogen and Jessie S – 8th. Girls medley relay – 3rd.
