Last Saturday evening Cranleigh Prep School took a team of 28 swimmers to compete in the Schools’ Regional Championships alongside Cranleigh Senior School at the Guildford Spectrum. The event was split into two categories; Primary 7–12 years and Secondary 13–15 years and over, with boys and girls in separate events.

Cranleigh Prep School achieved some exceptional results, winning the Mixed School Overall Championship Shield – 2015. This title was last taken by CPS 14 years ago. Many congratulations to our outstanding U10 girls who also shared the Overall U10 Girls’ Trophy – 2015 with St. Catherine’s. The U11 girls came 3rd in their overall events and the U11 boys were placed 2nd overall, with both teams producing great results in their individual races, whilst coming 1st in the relays races. In each event, the CPS team finished within the top three positions against the likes of Guildford High School, Cranmore, Boxgrove and Lanesborough.

The Cranleigh Prep School wins, coupled with Cranleigh Senior School’s achievements, produced an accumulative score that placed both schools as the Overall Boys Champions – 2015. Guildford High School were the Overall Girls Champions – 2015.

Group shotWill Philpot, Head of Swimming, says ‘I am delighted to see such strength and depth from our younger swimmers, as this is an amazing overall achievement. Swimming teams are built and maintained at the grassroots level and our CPS pupils should be very pleased with themselves. Our focus is now on the IAPS Qualifying event, just 2 weeks away.’
