swimmingThis was swiftly followed by a convincing win against one of our most menacing rivals, Westbourne House.  Even though our U9s appeared physically smaller than our competitors, the likes of Josh and Olivia kept us head to head; the U10 boys’ individual events then gathered pace, with Oscar virtually flying into first place with freestyle.  Max showed great strength, stepping up to swim in the U12 & U13 relays due to last minute sickness. Piers, CPS Captain, then sailed in to win gold in the individual fly and, finally, we wiped the score board with our superb combined U12 & U13 mixed relay races, with CPS 126 v WH 116.

We had another resounding victory on home turf against Feltonfleet (U8s – U13s), CPS 157 v Feltonfleet  143.  A special mention to those who won their individual races; Tom (U8s), Max (U10 breaststroke) and Will (U8 freestyle).  The relay teams then bolstered up the scores, namely the U10 boys’ medley relay, including Ed and Freddie, the brilliant U11 boys’ relay team including Austin and Jacopo, not forgetting slick work from the U11 and U12 girls’ relay teams which sealed the deal!

We held our heads high once again at The Surrey Individual Championships at Guildford Spectrum in February, with Lulu (100IM) and Martine (100m freestyle) clutching 2 bronze medals for the U12s and Piers winning a silver medal (100m backstroke) for the U13s.  Once again, we had a number of new personal best times!

CPS hosted the IAPS Preliminary Heats this month, with 9 independent schools taking part (Barfield, Westbourne House, Farlington, Pennthrope, Rydes Hill, Hazelwood, Belmont, Claremont Fan).  There were 130 children in total!  It was a particularly fast and furious preliminary heat; with fingers crossed we now wait until Easter to establish times and positions for the finals in May 2014.
