 Things to be done at home  

• Spellings are themed fortnightly, one week with a prep followed by a word list to learn the next week
• Reading, we ask you to read to, with or listen to your child for a period of about 15 minutes on a regular basis(ideally nightly), at this age the more reading the child does the better, as it exposes him/her to so much more vocabulary and ideas.  Your child will have a Reading Log for you to record how regularly he/she is reading, and we reward them with stars as an extra incentive.  
• Times-tables are also vital and we will cover them within our Maths curriculum in school and, as the year progresses, we will introduce formal weekly tests.  Practice on these regularly at home is crucial to their mathematical understanding, especially as we move into written methods of multiplication and division.
