Forms 1-2, which correlate to the national Curriculum Years 3-4, consist of two parallel forms in each year. The children undertake selective entry assessments at 7+ in reading, spelling, number and reasoning. Most of the children's time in Forms 1and 2 is spent with their Form Tutor and in these year groups we are trialling the IB Primary Years Programme. In addition to the core academic subjects, children are instructed in French, Art, ICT, CDT (Form Two only), drama, dance, PE (Form Two only) and instrumental and choral music. They are also introduced to competitive sport, with a games session every day. The focus in the Lower School years is very much 'hands in' and 'hands on'; the pupils are enthused by learning and their days are packed with the acquisition of new skills and knowledge. The Lower and Middle School meets together for a weekly Chapel service, as well as a Lower School assembly every other week. During this time we celebrate the children's achievements and they are often involved either as individuals or with their whole class. We place great importance on the pastoral care of our pupils and feel we know them well. First and foremost we want the children in the Lower School to be happy and to feel secure. This facilitates the best learning.
