Although it’s now the Summer term, the hockey season never seems to end for some of our very talented players!  This week we have heard about three fantastic success stories on the hockey pitch.

Five Cranleigh girls took part in the Guildford v Surbiton final of the England U14 Girls Hockey Club Championships held at Lee Valley on Saturday.  Four of the girls, including Matilda H and Siena K (playing a year up as still at CPS), represented the Guildford Hockey Club who were crowned National Champions.  With Flo Esplen and Heather Andrews (currently at the Senior School) and Eliza W (joining next term) also in the team, this certainly bodes well for the future of Cranleigh School hockey, as well as Guildford Hockey Club who fielded the youngest squad by far, including six U13 players.

Will P (also playing a year up), and his elder brother Charlie (now at Cranleigh School), represented Surbiton Hockey Club in the final at the England U14 Boys Hockey Club Championships at Lee Valley on Saturday.  The U14 boys only just missed out on national glory, losing 2-0 to Winchester, so finished as very commendable runners-up.

Many congratulations to Finn T, Will P, Sean H, Siena K and Boau-Lilly who have been nominated by Surrey Hockey for the U15 South Performance Centre.  This is a brilliant achievement as it’s the first step on the England pathway!
